Hemp Hurds for Hempcrete 'Green Building'
High Performance Material perfect for 'green' building. Hempcrete is a natural, non-toxic alternative to concrete, and can also replace traditional wood and fibreboard walls. Hempcrete is easily made using hemp hurds mixed with lime and water, which is then tamped into form work to create walls. As the hempcrete sets it becomes very strong and sequesters carbon from the atmosphere.
Hemp Hurds can also be used for insulation. Fill wall or ceiling cavities and enjoy the superior insulative properties of hemp's hollow fibres.

HOW TO MAKE HEMPCRETE
The ratio of hemp hurd to binder to water ranges from 4:1:1 to 1:2:2 (experiment and adjust for your intended use). Wet the hemp first, then add binder - usually hydrated lime or mineral clay, with fine pumice or sand added - and mix well. Tamp into formwork. Leave to dry overnight before removing fromwork. Hempcrete will continue to strengthen as it sequesters carbon from the atmosphere.
